Water System FAQ

If my Acuva system is not working should I open it for repair?

No, any tampering of the product including opening the product housing or disassembly (even if done for the purpose of internal inspection) voids the warranty.

For troubleshooting, please contact our customer support team at hello@acuvatech.com or 1-800-980-8810.

How do I winterize my water system?

To ensure your system delivers quality water year round, please follow these recommendations for winterizing. (Note: Simply draining your water system may not be effective at removing enough water to prevent damage inside the device)

Step 1:
Remove the pre-filter from the system and set it on its end (outlet-down) to drain. Place the filter in a bag and store in a refrigerator or a cool environment until it’s time to flush and use it again.

Step 2:
OPTION A) APPLY COMPRESSED AIR.
Apply compressed air to the inlet of your unit to blow out any and all water trapped in the system as well as any accessories such as flow restrictors or faucets you may have. Repeat this a few times to ensure no water is left in the lines.
OPTION B) USE ANTIFREEZE REAGENT.
Follow your RVs owners manual to drain out your water lines and run special RV antifreeze through the system.
OPTION C) REMOVE & STORE AWAY.
If you do not have access to compressed air or antifreeze, remove the system and flow restrictor (if present) and store in a temperature controlled environment (>4°C) until ready to re-install.

Failure to winterize can results in damage to the system which is not covered by warranty, so please take care to winterize well before freezing temperatures or inclement weather may occur.

What is the difference between the ArrowMAX 1.0, ArrowMAX 2.0 and Arrow 5?

The ArrowMAX 1.0 delivers a flow rate of 1.0 L/min – it can dispense 60,000 liters of water in its lifetime. The device exterior is made with high quality polymer and contains a stainless-steel chamber. The ArrowMAX 2.0 is an upgraded model of the ArrowMAX 1.0; it has a flow rate of 2.0 L/min and can dispense 120,000 liters of water in its lifetime. The Arrow 5 is one of our bigger systems that delivers a flow rate of 5 L/min, dispensing 900,000 litres of water in its lifetime. It is constructed with an aluminum housing and contains a stainless steel chamber.

Can both the smart faucet and my refrigerator’s ice maker line be hooked up to a single Acuva unit?

Our systems are primarily designed for single faucet use (with a Smart Faucet or your own); however, they could also potentially be connected to additional dispense points so long as the flow rate inside the unit does not exceed the certified flow rate (e. 2L flow rate for ArrowMAX 2.0). We recommend seeking professional advice from certified plumbers for connection to additional dispense points.

What is the difference between all the filters?

Click hereto see the comparison table.

How often do we need to replace the pre-filters?

The Advanced Pre-filter for up to 2L should be replaced after 1500 gallons, and the Advanced Pre-filter for > 2L should be replaced after 4000 gallons.

How long do your water systems last?

The ArrowMAX 1.0 can dispense up to 60,000 liters of water in its lifetime, the ArrowMAX 2.0 can dispense 120,000 liters and the Arrow 5 can dispense up to 900,000 liters. Depending on how often it gets used, you can expect the units to last many years.

What is the difference between the 2 power supply options you offer (120-240V AC and 12V DC)?

Our systems are compatible with both AC and DC. The power supply included in the box consists of an AC power adapter that can be plugged directly into a wall outlet and a 12V DC cable for wiring it into your electrical box.

For most homes running on grid power, the best choice is the 120-240V AC. For most RVs, boats and other motorhomes running on battery power, the best choice is 12V DC

What size of hole should I drill in my countertop to install the faucet?

A ¾” hole should be drilled to allow room for the faucet post and cable to fit through.

What is the maximum thickness of countertop can be used for the Smart Faucet installation?

The maximum countertop thickness allowable by the faucet mounting equipment is 1 ½”.

How do you undo the push-to-connect or shark bite fittings?

Simply press down the collar and pull out the tubings.

What is the brown ring that comes with the advanced pre-filter?

The brown ring that comes with the advanced filter is not part of the installation. It can be used to optionally flush water through the pre-filter by placing the ring between the filter inlet and a faucet, applying pressure to the filter, and turning on the faucet. Alternatively, the pre-filter can simply be flushed while plumbed in-place.

I purchased the Arrow 5 with smart faucet, what is the small black plastic box included in the faucet box?

With your purchase of an Arrow 5 with faucet, you may have found a black box known as a ferrite. The ferrite is to be installed after you have threaded the faucet cable into the spacer. The purpose of this ferrite is to prevent the faucet and cable from acting like an antenna to receive and transmit faint electromagnetic radiation which may cause interference with telecommunication systems. To attach the ferrite, place the cable inside the ferrite and close it firmly. Tape the key to the ferrite or keep it in a safe place so you can remove it again should you need to adjust your installation or remove your faucet at any point. The included cable-tie can be secured to the cable against the ferrite to keep it in place.

What’s the difference between NSF and IAPMO?

The difference is between standard and certification. NSF International is an independent non-for-profit organization that develops safety standards, including NSF/ANSI 55, for the protection of public health. When it comes to certification against NSF Standards there are approximately 6 accredited certifiers in North America such as IAPMO, WQA, CSA and NSF which provide certification against public domain NSF/ANSI standards. Each accredited certifier provides equivalent compliance to regulations and equivalent product assurance and acceptance for buyers. Acuva currently has certification listing against NSF/ANSI 55 and NSF/ANSI 372 standards with IAPMO.
